Eleanor Marsh

Eleanor Marsh is a Registered Nurse (NMC) and Integrative Health Practitioner with a Master's in Integrative Health from the University of Westminster and 13 years of experience spanning NHS wards and complementary medicine clinics. She holds additional certifications in clinical aromatherapy, medical acupuncture, and hydrotherapy rehabilitation. She currently runs an evidence-based integrative health consultancy advising both patients and GP surgeries on safe complementary care.

Eleanor Marsh trained as an adult nurse at the University of Southampton, spending her early career in NHS oncology and chronic pain management wards, where she witnessed first-hand both the benefits and limitations of purely pharmaceutical approaches to complex conditions. This experience motivated her to pursue a Master's in Integrative Health at the University of Westminster, where she critically evaluated the evidence base for therapies including acupuncture, osteopathy, hydrotherapy, herbal medicine, and sophrology. Over 13 years, Eleanor has developed a unique dual perspective, maintaining her NMC nursing registration while also practising as a qualified clinical aromatherapist and holding a diploma in Western medical acupuncture from the British Medical Acupuncture Society. She has worked within multidisciplinary pain clinics, NHS social prescribing programmes, and private wellness centres, always insisting that complementary therapies should support rather than replace conventional treatment. Eleanor is rigorously evidence-focused, helping patients distinguish between therapies with genuine clinical trial support and those driven purely by marketing. She is deeply knowledgeable about herb-drug interactions, particularly the risks of combining popular supplements like St John's Wort or ginkgo biloba with anticoagulants and cardiovascular medications. Her writing targets patients who are curious about holistic health but wary of misinformation, providing balanced assessments that respect both scientific evidence and patient choice. Eleanor is committed to bridging the cultural gap between conventional medicine and complementary care, ensuring that neither side dismisses the other without proper scrutiny.
